Wireless network cards give the machine the ability to connect to wireless networks. This is an alternative to plugging in a network cable to access the Internet, and other network resources.
There are several different protocols for wireless networks. The most predominate is 802.11b, 802.11g, and 802.11a. The "b" and "g" protocols are compatible with each other, so either will work on our network (although at "b" speeds). Wireless protocol 802.11a is incompatible with either "b" or "g" wireless networks, unless otherwise stated on the card.
Clayton State has the 802.11b wireless network operating over the majority of the campus. Students can enjoy wireless access inside classrooms, as well as outside between buildings.
